Vietnam’s budget carrier Jetstar Pacific will celebrate its first anniversary with a “buy two get one free” ticket deal for groups of travelers.

The special will apply for travel on domestic routes from September 8 to October 29 this year, Sai Gon Tiep Thi (Sai Gon Marketing) newspaper reported.

Under the deal, the airline will give one free ticket to every group of three passengers traveling on the same route. Groups of up to eight passengers will be eligible for the deal, although children aged under two, who fly free anyway, will not.

Some 35,000 free tickets will be available online from 6 a.m. on May 23 to 9 p.m. on May 27 on www.jetstar.com.

The promotion is part of Jetstar Pacific’s first anniversary celebrations. The airline was transformed from Pacific Airlines to Jetstar Pacific in May last year when Australia’s Qantas Airways Ltd. bought an 18 percent stake.

At present, two tickets for flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Danang or Hue and between Hanoi and Danang cost VND400,000 (US$22.50). Two tickets for travel between Vinh or Hai Phong City are VND720,000 ($40.50), while two tickets between Hanoi and HCMC cost VND830,000 ($46.70).
