British rapper to rock the capital

Influential rapper and beat-boxer Killa Kela, will hook up with local hip-hop acts for a one-off show on July 31 in Hanoi.

The concert in Hanoi is one leg of the British MC’s tour of Asia which also includes stops in China, South Korea, Thailand and Hong Kong.

The line up for the concert includes Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand's tour drummer Andy Knowles and London's multi award-winning DJ Skeletrik. Local talent will be represented by Vietnam’s top beat boxer Minh Kien, rappers Windy and Kim and break dance group Bigtoe, winner of the first national B-boy crew contest, Battle of the Year.

Killa Kela has built his reputation on his multi-vocal skills and live acts incorporating drum and bass, electro and hip-hop.

Since breaking through, the U.K.-based artist has worked with some of the most influential figures in world music, including Snoop Dogg, Pharrell and Justin Timberlake.

Killa Kela and his crew have performed hundreds of live shows around the world under the moniker "Spit Kingdom."

The concert will start at 10p.m. at the Cultural Friendship Palace, at 91 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hoan Kiem District.

Tickets are available at the palace’s box office for VND80, 000 (US$4.68) each.
