Female workers faint en masse
Tuoi Tre

Around 100 female workers were hospitalized Thursday after they fainted at work after hearing ghost rumors in an industrial park in the Mekong Delta province of Long An.

A female worker was reported to enter the restroom of the South Korea-invested Simone Limited Company in Long Hau Industrial Park on Thursday morning, and fainted after screaming out that she saw ghosts.

Another 100 workers started to scream and passed out.

Doctors said forty of the 100 workers suffered from terror and stress, some of them showed signs of disorder such as running and screaming in the hospital.

Doctor Nguyen Huu Tho, director of the Nha Be District Hospital, said the workers who fainted suffered from 'hysteria', a syndrome commonly found among young, sensitive girls, who had to work hard under pressure.

Most of the workers got back to work the same day.

More than 3,000 workers of the Simone Company, which produces suitcases and bags, started a two-day strike on Jan 21, demanding salary raise, bonus and insurances and protesting against overwork and maltreatment.
